A bleatin' good welcome to Coona
Coonabarabran’s dedicated welcoming committee has hooves and horns!
There is a sight so common on the westbound entrance to town that it has become iconic to Coonabarabran and its visitors.
Two small, black, inquisitive goats this reporter has dubbed Bill and Ted (from the 1989 comedy movie) can often be seen loitering on the wall directly across from Oval Number 3.
The pair can be seen sitting, ruminating and living their best lives, watching the traffic flow in and out of town.
Like in the movie – Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure –the two nonchalant characters seem to get through life with carefree attitudes.
And as they lay warming themselves in the morning sun, it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine their catchphrases to travellers to be similar to their movie counterparts, bleating out, “Be excellent to each other!” and “Party on dudes!” as drivers pass by.
