Community pitch in for skatepark makeover
Coonabarabran’s tired and run-down skatepark has been given a much-needed update thanks to a collaborative painting project.
More than 60 people turned out for the two-day re-paint last Friday and Saturday, transforming neglected graffiti- riddled walls into fresh, colourful murals.
Coordinated by Warrumbungle Shire Interagency and Yarn Support Connect - Coonabarabran Suicide Prevention Network, the project was well supported by a number of services and agencies, and community members of all ages.
Industrial artist, Steve Crompton, was also on hand, volunteering his time to share his skills with local youth.
Officially opened in 2005, the skatepark was constructed with generous donations from Peter Crystal and the Coonabarabran Rotary Club.
