Back on track at Binnaway
The track was perfect, the weather pristine, the racing fast and the crowd large at Binnaway last weekend.
Race goers were treated to a spectacular day at the Binnaway Jockey Club Autumn Race Meet on Saturday, 1 May.
Jockey Club president, Tim Kemp, said more than 600 punters made their way through the gates for the annual event.
So successful was the day Mr Kemp said there has already been talk about increasing the prize money on offer for the feature race.
“It was terrific weekend with a big crowd, a good day and perfect weather,” he said.
“It went really well and it was good to see the population of Binnaway swell for the day.
“The track held up well, there were no complaints; we’ve got one of, if not the best track in the region.”
Mr Kemp said it was a relief to be back in action again after the COVID-19 outbreak cancelled last year’s race meet, admitting he was looking forward to doing it all again next year.
“Hopefully next year we get the same result, if not an improvement.
“This year the cup had horses come from four different racing zones to compete.”
Race one was taken out by Golden Eclipse, trained by Michael Mulholland and ridden by Kath Bell-Pitomac.
Race two was won by Poetic Harmony, trained by Clint Lundholm and ridden by Jake Pracey- Holmes.
Race three was won by Classy Rebel, trained by Dar Lunn ridden by Jake Pracey- Holmes.
Race four was won by Just Lose It, trained by Brett Thompson and ridden by Clayton Gallagher.
