Council mains works improve water quality
The quality of Coonabarabran’s town water has been a contentious issue for some time.
Many residents in different parts of town have often aired their grievances at the water quality, which they say can be discoloured and leaves yellow stains on clothing and bathroom amenities.
Now, Warrumbungle Shire Council’s recent mains replacement works in Cassilis Street seems to have had a positive impact.
Jess Dafter, from Feather’s Cafe, was thrilled with the works.
She said she has noticed a “massive” increase in water quality since the work was completed.
“It’s actually really amazing,” Ms Dafter said.
“The water is crystal clear now.
“Before the work was done, it used to leave brown stains in our dishwasher, but even that is now clean and clear.”
As part of the mains replacement works, Council dug up a section of roadway directly in front of the busy cafe, but the business owner said, even then, Council staff ensured the least interruptions possible.
“They did a fantastic job and we’re so happy with the outcome,” Ms Dafter said.
