It was high tea and high spirits at the Coonabarabran Bowling Club this afternoon, as around 50 people gathered for a race day luncheon and fashion parade, raising funds for Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Melbourne Cup celebrations are taking place all around the country today and, before the horses hit the track, it’s all about getting glamorous and sharing a glass of bubbly with friends.

The colourfully-dressed crowd at Coonabarabran Bowling Club were treated to a fashion show of local women modelling vibrant summer outfits from Coonabarabran boutique, The Lighthouse.

Then it was time for top up, a pastry or two, and an afternoon of socialising as the Melbourne Cup coverage unfolded on the big screen.
