Little Timor Street facelift funding secured
In the next 12 months, a section of Coonabarabran’s Little Timor Street will be closed to traffic and transformed into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly public space.
Warrumbungle Shire Council was one of 27 regional councils successful in obtaining funding through the NSW Government’s Streets as Shared Spaces grant program, announced last week.
The proposal was developed in consultation with the Coonabarabran Town Beautification Advisory Committee, which was a driving force in getting the $233,358 project across the line.
The plaza will be located adjacent to the main street, in between Nutrien Harcourts Davidson Cameron & Co and the former Chalkies building, with easy access to parking and amenities.
As well as adequate seating, it is anticipated the space will provide an opportunity for exercise classes, night entertainment and socialising.
The project is expected to be completed by August 2021.
