Tibuc Gardens Cafe and Accommodation hosted a beautiful luncheon to celebrate International Women’s Day on Monday, 8 March, with more than 35 local women in attendance.

Auntie Maureen Sulter delivered a touching Welcome to Country address, also acknowledging the work of her late friend, Barbara Asplet, who grew up in Coonabarabran and was named NSW Woman of the Year in 2011.

Between lunch and a decadent dessert, Donna Burton and Talisha Kuras were invited to speak about their own journey as a woman and how they interpreted this year’s International Women’s Day theme “choose to challenge”.

The luncheon was emceed by Commonwealth Bank branch manager, Amanda Sutherland, who channelled her inner Oprah, handing out goody bags featuring the latest edition of Classic Agenda Heroes, which features several local ladies.
