Movies make a splash
Dive-in Movies have proven a big hit this summer, but summer’s not over yet...
After a number of successful events in pools across the Shire, the popular Dive-in Movies will next pop up at the Baradine Pool on Friday, 12 February.
Organisers are also aiming to to host another Dive-in night at the Coonabarabran Town Pool to replace the recently cancelled Coonabarabran Show.
Brainchild of the event, Zoe Holcombe said the concept came from the Wet and Wild theme park on the Gold Coast.
“I saw it there and thought, you know what, we could do something like that here,” Zoe said.
“Obviously on a much smaller scale.
“But we can have this stuff too, everything is do-able if we all work together.”
Zoe said the set up was owned by the Coonabarabran Golf Club and was hired to Warrumbungle Shire Council for events, with the money going back to support the club.
The events are free to attend.
Zoe said running the Dive-in Movies benefitted the entire community.
“The Golf Club has been struggling for a while due to COVID-19, so it’s a good way of fund-raising,” she said.
“But it’s also a way of giving youngsters something to do and bringing families together at the same time.
“We are really appreciative of how well the event has been supported by everyone.”
Zoe also didn’t rule out a showing of the movie ‘Jaws’ in the near future.
“It’s something that has been tossed around - it would be pretty funny that’s for sure,” she said.
