Music studio sets up shop in picturesque Warkton Valley
Octaves of opportunity await the musically inclined, as Paul Iannuzzelli and Peter Knight have created a professional recording studio in the Warkton Valley.
A master on the movement of sound, Paul Iannuzzelli has arrived in Coonabarabran to release his creative force onto those determined to receive.
When moving to town three years ago, Mr Iannuzzelli commenced as a music teacher at the local high school.
A few months down the track and Mr Iannuzzelli was introduced to Peter Knight.
The Knight family has been a part of the district for over 170 years and Mr Knight had always been fascinated by music.
It was by chance these two lives crossed paths, however, it appears predestined.
“He’s a musician who wants to be a cowboy. I’m a cowboy who wants to be a musician,” Mr Knight said.
Together, they have built a professional recording studio, consisting of unique equipment from all over the world.
The studio desk itself took nine months to arrive from overseas. It was chosen by Mr Iannuzzelli and Mr Knight as its analogue qualities create a warm and organic sound.
Growing up, Mr Iannuzzelli had a spark for creativity which was often blocked due to societal acceptance.
“They used to tell me to go get a real job,” Mr Iannuzzelli said.
And so, he went above and beyond.
Following his musical passion around the world, his success was accelerated by applying his knowledge and skills practically, with those more knowledgeable than himself.
He worked in music production all over the world, with 16 years in the London music industry including the world-renowned studio, Abbey Road.
He celebrated his inner poet and learnt to paint in Italy, however, his musical journey started at the Sydney Conservatorium.
Mr Iannuzzelli’s lifetime of creative experience has now led him to Coonabarabran, where he has found a sense of “limitless creativity,” to draw upon.
If you work with Mr Iannuzzelli he will invite you in for a meal – and perhaps a horse ride – to relax you into the space.
He will then get to work in the studio, creating shape and life through the individual’s passion.
This local opportunity is for anyone determined to turn a career as a musician into reality.
“I tap into a set of principles to activate a magnetism for inner creativity,” he said.
Mr Iannuzzelli said this comes with hard work and realising talent is not enough.
“To see beyond what one perceives in front of them every day takes sacrifice,” he said.
“To see our own potential takes courage.
“Becoming successful takes time, money and a driven focus.
“The possibilities are there. The mentality also needs to be there.”
Mr Iannuzzelli said there is a blockage in creativity amongst Australian culture compared to other cultures.
“Society holds many distractions and there is a lack of Government support within the creative fields.”
This lack of support can mean it is easy to make “comfortable” choices, however, Mr Iannuzzelli believes many find themselves existing and not living their passions.
“What I am looking for isn’t talent – it’s an attitude,” he said.
“I see talented people everywhere. This is about who you want to be. Entwining your being to your life.”
Mr Iannuzzelli offers online song-writing and production courses and is working on a lifestyle app with music and poetry to transport people to various atmospheres.
The knowledge and warmth from both Mr Iannuzzelli and Mr Knight is invaluable.
To have a high quality, industry-standard studio, locally, gives momentum to a local sound and musicians committed to their creativity.
