Show societies celebrate young women
Binnaway, Baradine and Mendooran Show Societies joined together at the Binnaway Showgrounds on Saturday night, 20 November, to celebrate local entrants in the 2022 Sydney Royal Ag Shows NSW Young Woman (formerly Miss Showgirl) competition.
The evening event was the culmination of a day of activities for the young ladies, which involved interviews and coaching in public speaking and etiquette.
Binnaway Showgirl coordinator, Pam Southwell said all the young ladies did their towns proud.
“Each of the young women who took part in the day are a credit to their families and towns,” Ms Southwell said.
“They all participated willingly and used the opportunity to learn new skills, push themselves out of their comfort zones and meet new people.”
Binnaway Show Young Woman of the Year is Emily King, Baradine Show Young Woman of the Year is Erin Tym, with Rachel Evans the runner- up, and Mendooran Show Young Woman of the Year is Tayla Eyles.
Ms Southwell thanked the day’s judges - Jill Powell, Millie Lambell and Ralph Kuhn - as well as Showgirl coordinators and volunteers who helped to put on the event.
“We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the fantastic success of the day and night time celebration,” Ms Southwell said.
The ladies will move on to the next stage of the competition, the zone final, which will be held in Gulgong, with the winner from there invited to attend and compete at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
