All smiles for vibrant family fun day
On Tuesday, 26 September, children and parents alike enjoyed some school holiday fun with a Family Fun Day held at Coonabarabran’s No. 1 Oval.
The event was organised to kick start the school holidays and provide a positive and fun event for everyone to get together, enjoy some food and have some fun.
Facilitated by the Coonabarabran Local Aboriginal Land Council (CLALC) and VERTO, the day had something for everyone including a colour run, face painting, a free barbecue lunch, Nikki DJ on the tunes, and $1000 worth of giveaways.
CEO of CLALC, Brandon Nixon said when Maddie Veitch from VERTO called and said there was an opportunity to collaborate to hold this event, the CLALC was excited and appreciative to be able to be a part of it.
“With the Sorry Business our community has faced over the past couple of months, the family fun day could not have come at a better time,” Mr Nixon said.
“It’s great to put something positive on for the community; we have had a tough time lately.”
CEO of VERTO, Ron Maxwell said the day was a great opportunity to give back to the community.
“VERTO’s goal is to positively transform the lives of individuals and the local communities in which we operate.
“It was fantastic to give something back to the Coonabarabran community and even more pleasing was the fact that so many people turned out and had a great time at this event.
“Congratulations to Zac Neal who took out the lolly counting competition.”
