TAKE FIVE: wth Kait Britton from HEY Kait words + design
Tell me about your business:
HEY Kait is my sideline graphic design business that I run when I’m not writing stories at the Coona Times - or wrangling tiny humans.
I’ve always had a passion for design and after creating hundreds of page layouts and advertisements for the newspaper, I decided to re-train and diversify my skills with a Diploma of Graphic Design. That was over three years ago and I’ve been fortunate to develop some great working relationships with local businesses on some cool projects.
How has your business been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic?
Like most businesses, I felt the full force of COVID-19 with all jobs basically drying up overnight. However, things are starting to get back on track now as business owners feel more confident about what the future may look like.
What type of services do you offer:
As well as content and copywriting, at this point I think I’ve designed a job for just about everything! From new logo designs for new businesses through to full business re-branding packages. Social media posts, menus, brochures, event posters, beautiful wedding invitations, shop signage, stickers, business cards, gift certificates and more. I love problem solving!
Why is design important?
We live in an increasingly visual world, and even in the local market, effective design is important for businesses to remain relevant with their customer base and prospective clientelle. Good design helps with communication, while branding allows a business to be easily recognisable and stand out from its competitors. It is an investment in your business.
