Ambos on the move
The NSW Ambulance Service, Coonabarabran, has made a temporary move while the station on Cowper Street receives some much-needed repair work.
The organisation will essentially be roomies with the Rural Fire Service (RFS), which offered up its emergency room within the compound on Saleyards Road while the work was being complete.
The paramedics will be in their new digs for approximately 10 weeks before moving back into their freshly-renovated building.
In the meantime, the ambulance station will receive a make-over as well as some asbestos removal.
Paramedic and station officer, David Hunter was appreciative of the RFS to offer up their facilities, but at the same time said he looked forward to returning to his home base.
“They’ve (RFS) been great,” he said.
“Our building will receive some general upgrades to lift it up a bit and make it lighter and more modern looking.
“It’s a great solid building and we love it, it was just time for some touch ups.”
As part of the work on the building the relief quarters will receive a much-needed spruce up.
“It will be a bit more user friendly and the relief accommodation, which is used by officers coming from other towns, will be upgraded.”
In more good news, the station will be at full staffing levels with eight officers calling it home.
