It’s eisteddfod season!
A group of Coonabarabran dancers recently took part in several eisteddfods across the region, achieving some credible results.
Under the instruction of Madi Kitchin, the dancers commenced learning their routines at the beginning of term one, followed by weekly practice sessions plus a few extra rehearsals in preparation for the eisteddfods.
Dancers attended eisteddfods in Narrabri, Dubbo, and Tamworth, with all events being quite competitive and the Dubbo eisteddfod the largest of the three.
Ms Kitchin said it had been great to see so much growth in the dance school over the last few years.
“The dance school has grown to 110 students this year which is incredible compared to the 30 students we finished with at the end of 2021,” Ms Kitchin said.
“The school seems to be just doubling each year and it’s been fantastic – not only for us, but also for the town to be able to provide such a fun and nurturing environment. We encourage any child to join!”
For the remainder of 2023, Ms Kitchin is looking forward to holding the club’s annual concert at the end of term three, as well as providing performances at Cooinda.
Some of Ms Kitchin’s students will also be competing in eisteddfods in the second half of the year, including the Wellington eisteddfod for solos at end of July and a Gunnedah eisteddfod in November.
