New projects take shape
Development of Coonabarabran’s Little Timor Street Plaza has commenced, with work on the Stop and Play Park to commence next month.
Construction on the plaza was previously halted due to the COVID-19 outbreak and associated restrictions.
However, now, with vaccination rates climbing and COVID-19 becoming less of an issue, work has again kicked off, with contractors making good time.
Another big project that’s expected to kick off soon is the Stop and Play Park in Coonabarabran, which was also put on hold due to the pandemic.
Warrumbungle Shire Council’s acting director of technical services, Gary Murphy said with all things in order, both jobs should be complete in a similar time - roughly around the end of November.
“It’s obviously all depending on COVID and the weather, but worst-case scenario is the developments will be completed by Christmas time,” Mr Murphy said.
Work is expected to commence at the Stop and Play Park on 8 November.
Mr Murphy said the separate tender for the shade sails will be decided upon this week.
“Council will be doing the footpath works and working in with the contractor simultaneously and a fence will be installed by volunteers,” he said.
The projects have been funded by the Stronger Communities and the Streets for Shared Spaces government grants.
