Providing a helping hand to all
Hundreds of people flocked to the Coonabarabran Town Hall last week for the annual Community Services Expo, which shone a spotlight on services and activities available across the Warrumbungle and wider region for the elderly and people with a disability.
Held on Wednesday, 8 November, the event was hosted by Warrumbungle Community Care, which provides services that allow people to remain living independently in their own homes.
Agencies and services filled all three rooms within the Town Hall and varied from emergency services NSW Ambulance and Rural Fire Service through to agencies covering disability and mental health.
Words of support and gratitude were shared by Warrumbungle Shire Council mayor, councillor Ambrose Doolan.
Cr Doolan highlighted the respect the community held for those who dedicate their time to help others.
“If you need help, help is available,” he said.
“I just want to give my gratitude to all those in the room.”
Community member, Dianne Clark enjoyed the Expo and expressed the benefits of the event for the community.
“It shows no one is alone in the community and shows what is available,” Ms Clark said.
The Community Services Expo is held annually, with attendees saying they come back each year due to the enjoyable environment and access to information.
Overall, the event was hailed a success, with information on services reaching more clients and potential volunteers.
